KL-1Chris Leowski specialized in areas of Instructional and Information Technologies. He managed planning, architecture, and implementation of complex IT solutions, with emphasis on best practices frameworks (ITIL, Zachman), educational web portals, course management solutions, collaborative portals, information and data architecture, information storage, search and retrieval systems, data library services, knowledge repositories, remote collaboration, and business continuity solutions.

Since 1991 until 2014, when he retired from the University of Toronto, Director of CHASS, an IT Centre for Computing in Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Arts & Science. Formerly Interim Assistant Dean and Director of IT, Faculty of Arts & Science, University of Toronto, responsible for the IT portfolio, including instructional technologies, collaborative portals and learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard). Architect and co-designer of the CHASS Data Centre, an on-line search and retrieval system for large financial and economic data repositories. Under Chris’s direction CHASS (in cooperation with Statistics Canada, and the Data Library of the University of Toronto’s Robarts Library) has been providing data solutions and services to academic users from over 65 universities in North America.

For many years consultant with the Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets (RBCCM), planning and implementing e-business infrastructure and applications for FX and various financial instrument trading, and grid computing solutions for risk analysis – interfacing between architecture, infrastructure, and business units. Other major consulting assignments included Toronto Dominion Bank’s Wealth Management Technology Solutions Division – working on data processing, data loading, and data integrity checks while incorporating a new business line into the company’s Customer Relationship Management System; and IntellEcomm Inc. – preparing business proposals and solutions in areas of enterprise modeling, compliance and governance, business and systems modeling, data modeling, process re-engineering, configuration management and capacity management for various corporate clients. Holder of ITIL and BPEL certifications.
